Thank You Matchbook Magazine!

Thank you to Matchbook Magazine for including me in their January 2012 issue with my thoughts on the one beauty product I can't live without, pg. 41. (I almost chose an anti-wrinkle cream but refrained.) The January issue is their 12th as they head towards their one year anniversary in February. Congratulations on a wonderful years' worth of issues!!
One of my favorite Matchbook decor stories was of Kate and Andy Spades's home in the November issue. If you haven't checked it out yet, be sure to.

organic elegance

My taste changes constantly but I can say with confidence that I will always pine for anything elegantly covered in crystals or dripping in delicate shells....

A Peek

Hello, hello. Here's a little peek at a project I'm wrapping up. I love this client, I've been working on their house now for a couple of years. We choose one room to work on at a time and run with it!! Hope you're having a great week. It's been a busy one for me!

Room of The Week - 2.18

The dramatic drapes, credenza, graphic floor, sculptural light fixture, grass cloth walls, what's not to love about this Grant K Gibson designed dining room? What I also appreciate about this space is that it could be the impetus for a smaller scaled, lowered budget dining project!

The blue and white ginger jar collection works beautifully on this over-scaled table top!

I've had a parrot green fabric stashed away in my house for over a year now. I want to cover chairs very similar to these in it! I love parrot green! (I'm guessing that's obvious ;)

current cravings {spring fresh}

Just a few pieces that I am currently craving -- all of which will bring a breath of fresh spring air to your home and wardrobe....

Casually Cool - Claiborne Swanson Frank

I love checking in on Vogue's, Five Days, Five Looks, One Girl,  Fashion Feature. They often show and share creative types wardrobes so the lifestyle shots rarely (if ever) disappoint. I loved contributing Vogue photographer Clairborne Swanson Franks segment. Her daily choices are approachable and realistic but still very chic! I also love the small glimpse we get of her home. It appears equally cool, with doses of pattern, lucite and leopard. ( and notice the black dining table * see trash picker post a few days ago - it looks very similar to my missed find - damn! )

I VERY much appreciate and love sassy heels and glamorous frocks with the best of them, but I'll be honest interior designers do A LOT of schlepping.  On any given day I am usually dragging arm loads of bags, rugs and who know what else around the city. And when I'm not working I'm chasing two little ones.  (no complaints on either front) The only time heels really work for me is A. for a client meeting that doesn't entail any labor and B. out for dinner and/or cocktails. (an absolute yes!)

Adorable

I love this look. How tiny is she?

And that belt!? I need one.

LOVE these classic "statement" pieces!

Peekaboo Spring....

... I see you!!!

Things are budding...

Lettuce is popping...

...And we can go barefoot...

Who said it can't be 75 in March?!!

Love it.

trending {electric contrast}

I love the current trend of neutrals paired with bold electric colors, especially when those neutrals are paired with beautifully bold hermes orange...

Creamy Prosciutto Pasta

I love eating & I enjoy cooking pretty much only because I love to eat.  My favorite types of meals don't take very long to whip up but taste like they did.

Over the weekend I made a prosciutto pasta recipe from our family's cookbook.  I'm not sure where it originally came from, but it is yummmmy and I had the camera nearby so I had to share!!!

INGREDIENTS:
Pasta- approx 1 lb (1 box)
Prosciutto
Flour- 3 tablspoons
Heavy Cream-  you could try substituting it with skim milk- 2 cups
Edamame (it was originally peas but I switched it to soy beans because we like them better)- 1 cup
Parsley
Chives (I used scallions because we didn't have chives)
Parmesan Cheese- 2-4 tablespoons depending upon how thick you want the sauce
Ground Black Pepper
I did the recipe approximately- I'm not big on measuring- and it came out soo delicious so don't worry about the amounts so much.

DIRECTIONS:

1.Boil the water for the pasta.  I used farfalle this time but anything really works.  Penne is awesome with it because the cream gets inside the noodles ;) ;)  I usually salt my pasta water once it boils.
2.  Saute the prosciutto with a little olive oil in a sauce pan for a few minutes
3.  Add in the flour & saute it for another 3 or so
4.  Slowly pour in the heavy cream & whisk it for a few minutes until it thickens.  (I skipped the whisking part & it still worked.)
5.  Add in the chopped parsley, chives, and cooked edamame.  Add a bunch of pepper.
6.  Add in the parmesan cheese & stir until it melts.
7.  Pour it over your freshly cooked pasta, serve and EAT!  (I kept it separated from the pasta because I knew we'd have a lot of leftovers and I don't like it as much once the sauce & pasta have been sitting together for a day or so, but if you aren't planning on leftovers, go ahead & mix it all in with the pasta before serving.)

(Yes, sometimes the two year old goes shirtless at meals...  easier clean up ;)

If you get some time to try it out, I promise you will looooooove it!!

xoxo, Lauren

ps- Am I the only person who feels like the pictures of the food never look as good as the food really does in person?  How do those food photographers do it?!!!
